Early Music Centre Publications
All the music contained in this series is drawn from the repertoire of the English Consort of Viols, built up over the years. The object is to provide a carefully chosen collection of pieces by composers writing between c.1600 and 1650, whose works are as yet largely unavailable in modern published editions.
These consorts are grouped into folders. The choice of contents has been determined by a variety of considerations such as complete sets of a composer's work in a given form; pieces requiring the same combination of instruments; pieces sharing common stylistic features.
The numbering of the pieces follows that of the Gamba Society index.
